What seems to be an ordinary romance on the surface actually has dark, erotic secrets at its core. Clover has been traumatized by the loss of her boyfriend, an event that she witnessed and that she is unable to come to term with. When she encounters Jared, a newly-turned vampire, she is vulnerable to his charms and sexual chemistry. But Clover is determined to find out the truth behind her boyfriend’s death, putting herself and those she loves in jeopardy.This is a new adult paranormal romance, and a highly-charged erotic one at that, on one level, and a mystery on another. Its themes are quite adult, but all lovers of vampire fiction will be drawn to the intricate story and the layered characters, all of whom have their secrets. The relationship between Clover and Jared, in particular, is very real and is what holds the story together. The sexual chemistry and danger that is between them is almost palpable as you read, making this a hard book to put down! I've found that books in this genre are often more concerned with elaborate plots than in character development, but this has both an exciting (especially at the end) plot and complex characters. Engrossing, well written and inventive, this is a vampire tale and much more. Highly recommended.

At first, I did not feel that excited by this book, but I kept on reading it, and soon enough, I did not want to put it down! Once you get to know the characters better, you will want to continue. The book is indeed long, but it is well written and well worth the money! The first book I read by Cate Farren and I can recommend it!
This story has all means of paranormal beings available. It shows a boy turned vampire falling in love with a Human girl he knew in grade school. Can she accept that this vampire could have killed her boyfriend?
I am a major sucker for paranormal romances with humans mixed up with vampires, werewolves, and more. Care Farren satiates all of my desires when it comes to this topic. I am hooked, I will be a fan for life. I can't wait to see where this series goes. Cate makes me love every character, even the villains, I just have to know how their stories end.
Received arc for review. I am enjoying the storyline and the characters. Unfortunately there are a lot of inconsistancies throughout the book. Can't believe that so many were overlooked before publishing. I am also not into the love at first sight aspect. The series has potential but I'm afraid that the next book is going to fall victim to the same inconsistancies.
Really don't see how anyone could give this book a 5star rating. I think im being pretty generous giving it 1star only because it wasnt so horrible that i couldnt finish reading it. The characters seemed very adolescent. Like when clover and Saskia were investigating the murder of freddy was like they were about 12yrs old. And especially the way you turned into a vampire, really? Throwing up made no sense. Not good.
Clover wanted a normal life and it hasn't been that way since . . .
Jared is trying to figure out a world he woke up in and his mentors leave him . . .
They are Romeo and Juliet with a vampiric twist that will. . .
Will they work through their love or will they be broken forever??

I feel conflicted. I liked aspects of it, but the aspects had more to do with the concepts behind the story than the story itself or the characters in this world. It was sort of original, but not by far, not far enough to really praise but far enough to outdo many writing paranormal fiction. I think it's just too young for me, even though I like YA, maybe the YA I gravitate to is more mature.
I would try something different from this author at a later date.
